Description

Elizabeth Thompson - Remnants of an Army 1000 or 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

Remnants of an Army is a powerful and evocative historical painting by the renowned military artist Elizabeth Thompson (Lady Butler), first exhibited in 1879. It depicts the dramatic arrival of Dr. William Brydon at the gates of Jalalabad, believed at the time to be the sole survivor of a 16,000-strong retreat during the First Anglo-Afghan War. Thompson’s mastery in capturing the exhaustion of both horse and rider against a desolate landscape creates a poignant, somber atmosphere that remains one of the most famous images of 19th-century British art.

This high-quality 500 or 1000 piece puzzle is custom-made in the UK.

Note that this is a digital representation of a masterpiece so the quality of the image will be dictated by the quality of the original artwork. We may have had to resize or shape the image slightly to fit the available area.
